PRIVACY / PLAIN WORDS
Privacy, without the fog machine
What this static editorial site does, what it does not do, and where third-party requests can happen when you load a page.
THE SHORT VERSION
We do not run accounts, analytics or a hidden data operation
Rucksack Routes is a static informational website. It has no registration, account area, checkout, transaction system, newsletter database, audience analytics or advertising tracker. We do not ask the site to collect a passenger record, itinerary, payment details or location history. The site is designed to work as a set of public pages with ordinary web delivery.
When you visit, the hosting provider may process technical server-log information needed to deliver a page. Depending on its normal operation, that can include an IP address, browser or device information, request time, referring page and the page requested. We do not add an analytics service or use those technical logs to build personal profiles. Hosting-log retention and handling are controlled by the hosting provider’s operational policies.
We do not set our own analytics, advertising or marketing cookies. The theme preference is stored only in your browser’s local storage if you use the light/dark toggle. It holds a simple value such as “light” or “dark,” is not sent to us by the page, and can be removed by clearing site data in your browser.
THIRD-PARTY REQUESTS
Fonts, framework code and remote photographs
To render the site as designed, your browser may request resources from third parties. Tailwind’s Play CDN provides styling code from cdn.tailwindcss.com. Google Fonts provides the configured typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Photographs are loaded from the approved Unsplash image CDN at images.unsplash.com. When your browser requests these resources, those providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, user agent and the requested URL as part of normal web delivery.
Those providers operate under their own privacy practices. We do not control their logs, cookies or other processing. If you prefer to avoid third-party requests, browser-level content controls may affect how the page looks or whether remote photographs load. We use remote photography because this static site has no local asset folder, and each image is credited on the About page.
External editorial links, including official transport-operator or transport-authority links, take you to third-party sites. Their privacy practices apply once you leave Rucksack Routes. We do not claim responsibility for those sites or their current content.
EMAIL CONTACT
The contact form opens your mail client
The contact form uses a mailto: action. When you submit it, your device opens the mail application or service you have configured. The page does not transmit form content to a Rucksack Routes server or database. Your message is sent only if you decide to send it from your mail client.
If you email us directly, we receive the information you choose to put in the message, such as your email address, name, subject and editorial feedback. We use that information to read, respond to and act on the editorial message. Please do not send sensitive travel documents, payment information or any information you do not want included in email.
We retain editorial correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain a correction record or manage the conversation, unless a longer period is required by law. We do not sell, rent or use messages for behavioural advertising.
YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
Ask about personal data we hold
Depending on where you live and applicable data-protection law, you may have rights to ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of or objection to the processing of personal information we hold, and to ask about portability where it applies. You may also have the right to complain to a relevant data-protection authority.
Because this site does not operate accounts or analytics profiles, the personal data we are likely to hold is usually limited to correspondence you voluntarily sent by email. To make a privacy request or ask a question about this notice, email [email protected] with enough information to identify the relevant conversation. We may need to verify a request before acting on it.
This notice describes the site as it currently works. If we materially change the site’s data practices, we will update this page before describing the new practice as active.
